Miss Wisconsin Pre Teen, Olivia Lulich's Farewell

I was just 5 years old the first time I crossed the National American Miss stage. Extremely shy, I didn’t come home with a crown that year. But I learned that I wanted to improve and try again. Each year I have come back to National American Miss with the same goal – to grow as a person, meet new friends and take pride in what I do.

The excitement I felt to hear my name called last August was indescribable. To be selected as the 2013 Miss Wisconsin Pre-Teen was truly a dream come true!

This title offered me the opportunity to expand my community service program, Dream Makers, by helping teachers in my community get the things they need to be more successful in their classrooms.

In November my entire family was off to California for an amazing week at nationals. I can proudly say that hard work does pay off, as I placed 2nd runner up in Casualwear modeling and was a top 10 finalist. The girls I met that week were incredible and many I consider to be life-long friends!

It was an honor to meet so many other Wisconsin queens this past year: Miss Wisconsin, Miss Wisconsin USA, Alice in Dairyland, Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs and lots of local title holders. Each of these ladies is making a difference in today’s world and I feel honored to say I know them!

My National American Miss sister queens here in Wisconsin are astonishing: Haelley, Addie, Brittany, Autumn and Alyssa. I have enjoyed the times and appearances we have made together. Each of you are inspirational and I know will be successful in all you do.

Special thanks the Maples team for making this pageant truly feel like a NAMILY! And congratulations to Breanne and Ryan on their upcoming marriage!

To my family members and friends who have always supported me. My little brother Ethan, you complain about having to sit through pageants, but you always want me to win and cheer for me every step of the way. My parents – I know that pageantry can be a sacrifice – thank you for seeing through the material side of things and recognizing all the benefits I have gained along the way.
I hope that each contestant walks away from this pageant with a greater sense of who they are and who they want to be. I know that National American Miss has definitely impacted my life in countless positive ways. Crown or no crown - the prize is the experience!

I once heard the quote – “Don’t cry because it is over – smile because it happened.” I will forever smile fondly on my memories at National American Miss. Bidding sweet farewell as your 2013 Miss Wisconsin Pre-Teen – I am, Olivia Lulich.
