Your National American Miss Arizona Jr Pre-teen Cover Girl, Dani Mixer, has been participating in the walk benefiting the Southern Arizona Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation since she was an infant. It is a cause near and dear to her heart. Her uncle was diagnosed with the disease when he was seven years old. When a close friend of hers was diagnosed three years ago, she became an avid supporter of the cause. Again this year, Dani joined Jairus Walkers' Walkers and raised $130 towards finding a cure. Keep up the good work Dani!

One week after being crowned National American Miss Missouri Jr. Teen, Maryn White was off to Atlanta, Georgia, for summer camp at the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Maryn was one of 18 middle school students from across the country selected for this prestigious program. She studied infectious diseases, including Ebola, and various public health scenarios. She played the role of an epidemiologist and learned how to calculate outbreaks, treat patients with various levels of quarantined care, and lead news conferences to inform the general public of a possible outbreak. All the places that we are seeing in the news today are places Maryn explored during her camp experience. The camp concluded with the campers presenting CDC personnel with their findings. This time at the CDC helped solidify her desire to become a doctor, and possibly work with the CDC one day. WOW!!! What an incredible experience for Maryn!!! We are so proud to have such a driven and intelligent young lady representing the great state of Missouri and NAM!
