NAM IL Princess donates time and HAIR!!

Our wonderful Illinois Princess Payton Galli got right to work after being crowned in August. The first thing Payton did was donate all of those school supplies and books collected from our NAM Community Involvement program. She started by her donating the school supplies to the Salvation Army and the books to her school at Belle Alexander.

Next, Payton decided to volunteer her time donating hours of community service by helping serve cancer patients in remission at the Relay For Life dinner. Payton also made an appearance at the Kewanee Hog Days Parade and joined other Henry County Queens by getting the first pork chops off the grill to kick off the four day event. She even got to make an appearance on stage at the Hog Days Carnival.

This little princess is so passionate about giving back Payton has already donated her hair to locks of love, now that is a serious commitment to donating.

Coming up, Payton will be participating in a coat drive in October helping donate winter coats to the less fortunate. Not to mention she will be volunteering at the Schuyler Patch Red White And Blue Patchy Christmas drive and will be donating toys to kids in her community.

It is safe to say Payton is one busy little princess! Way to go Payton!

Minnesota Princess Grace Nester featured in multiple papers

Grace Nester, your reigning Minnesota Princess, has been gaining all sorts of attention since winning her title. Grace was chosen to be the Community Grand Marshal in the Woodbury Days Parade in Woodbury, Minnesota. Not only was she in the parade but has had two different papers feature her in articles!

The first article discusses the high distinction of being named the Community Grand Marshal for the Woodbury Days Parade. Grace and her family consider it a great honor. "We’re just very proud of Grace,” her mom said.“We’re amazed at the things she’s accomplished at this age!" And we here at NAM are too!

The second article features Grace's journey with National American Miss and the upcoming National Pageant. The article says, "Previously a somewhat shy child, Grace, 7, now approaches people with confidence, introduces herself, looks them in the eye and shakes their hand." That's what NAM is all about!

Princess Cover Girl Miah Green making a BIG difference

Miah Green has been one busy little girl after winning the title of Utah Princess Cover Girl! She has not only traveled to the Nevada and Missouri State Pageants as visiting Royalty, but has been heavily involved in the Christmas Box House in Ogden, UT. The Christmas Box House is a 24 hr/7 day a week safe house for abused and neglected children ages 0-17.  These children are removed from the home usually with only the clothes on their back due to their dangerous environment. They stay at the home until a suitable & safe alternative home is found or until their home is safe to return to. While there, the children received mental, physical and emotional therapy by loving and caring staffed professionals.

Miah donates three hours a week, sorting donations, cleaning,  working in their clothing closet putting outfits together (upon arrival each child receives three new outfits from head to toe), organizing their visiting rooms and even created a Disney library & play room.  With the donation of NAM school supplies from the community involvement program and other generous backpack donations she was able to provide fully stocked backpacks for some of the kids. She also has been able to enjoy their company and spend one on one time with them by doing a variety of crafts that her and her mother provide for them on a monthly basis.

Take a look at the pictures of Miah's adventures since being crowned!

Illinois Pre-Teen Taylor Castro featured in Barbizon Midwest Review

Congratulations goes to Taylor Castro, the newly crowned Illinois Pre-Teen! Taylor was featured in the Barbizon Midwest Review for her accomplishments in pageantry, and the modeling and acting industry. Taylor has starred in Sears, Luna, and McDonald's commercials along with print work for Walgreens, Weber Grill, State Farm, Good Egg Project, Six Flags and others. She was originally put on their blog to celebrate her crowing moment back in August but later was able to sit down with Barbizon for a question and answer period.

Here is an excerpt from their blog...

"Taylor's pageantry title, extracurricular activities, industry work, and academic achievements make her a true star in our eyes. She is a shining example of the type of role model we strive to help our students become. At such a young age, Taylor has already achieved so much and it is easy to see this bright, determined, and talented girl is going places."

Iowa Queens Volunteer at the State Fair

The 2013 National American Miss Iowa Queens traded in their high heels for some comfy shoes to walk in the Iowa State Fair Parade. Instead of riding in a car and participating in the parade as royalty, the queens decided to dedicate their time and the opportunity to be in the state fair parade to a cause. These wonderful Iowa representatives volunteered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation carrying signs to increase awareness and encouraging people to sign up for the 2013 Race for the Cure. Check out the pictures below!
