Miss Arizona Jr. Pre-Teen 2011, Amber Cocran reflects on her year

Wow what an extraordinary year I have had. I wish it could last forever!

Representing Arizona and National American Miss as the 2011 - 2012 Miss Arizona Jr Pre Teen Queen has been a true honor an a blessing.

It feels like only yesterday that I was crowned. I will never forget last year, winning Actress, Casual Wear and Top Model.
Then standing there wishing, hoping and praying for my name to be called as Queen. What an amazing feeling it was when it finally happened, my dream came true. From the moment I was crowned I knew the year of my reign would be a great adventure. Being Queen means a year of service but it also has meant having the time of my life.

This year I spent many hours collecting food for United Food Bank. I worked with the Salvation Army stuffing Hummers with toys for less fortunate children and I also volunteered at Feed My Starving Children. Volunteering has helped me realize how very fortunate I am and has helped me grow in a very giving and humble young lady. I have had so much fun getting to know my Sister Queens and spending time together. We had a blast walking for charity, riding in several parades, going to the state fair and the pumpkin festival. Oh! and our New Years Eve sleepover was totally rockin'!

Nationals was so exciting, what an unbelievable week. I got to spend time with so many of the friends that I have made through NAM. I was so proud to be named the 3rd runner up for the National Top Model Title. I also came home with trophies for scrapbook, thank you note, art contest and a SPIRIT STICK!

To the NAM staff and the Maples family, thank you for making all of this possible. To my Sister Queens - Nicole, Lexe, Chandi, Raina and Athena you arebeautiful and amazing. I am truly blessed to know you, I LOVE YOU ALL! To Joanna, Sarah, and the Burdick and Donati families - thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your love and support. I will love you all FOREVER! Last but not least to my family - I love you all so much and truly appreciate everything you do to help make my dreams come true.

To Grandma and Grandpa thank you for all your love and support. Grandma, thank you for all of your countless hours and hard work altering my gowns and clothes. I love you sooooo much! Because of you I can definitely say, I LOOK GOOD! To Dana and Sami your the best friends (sisters) I could have -  I love you! Bradley, your the best little brother ever. Thank you for all of your love and support. I love you! To Mom and Dad, thank you for all of your love, support and encouragement. Thank you for always being by my side and working so hard to make my dreams possible. You are the best family a girl or QUEEN could ask for.

Finally to my successor -be yourself, have fun, remember to smile, and just BREATHE! Cherish and enjoy everyday of your reign, because these precious moments will beover before you know it.

Raina Donati, 2011 AZ Pre-Teen, " it is an honor for me to serve my community."

As I look back on my year, I am reminded of a quote by the Apostle Paul. "To Whom much is given...much is expected.

I have been given so many gifts and opportunities in my life, that it is an honor for me to serve my community.

I been blessed to serve so many wonderful organizations, such as Operation Home front, Feed my Starving Children, Pennies for Patients and The Phoenix Children’s Hospital  to name a few, but perhaps my 2 favorite were, Maggie’s Place , a shelter for homeless expecting women and The Miss Amazing Pageant.  At Maggie’s Place I helped throw their annual Halloween Party, where I was in charge of doing crafts with kids. I also collected and donated over 75 Halloween costumes .  After the day of fun and tons of Candy, I also donated 75 toothbrushes to make sure to keep the kids smiles at Maggie’s Place healthy.  The Miss Amazing Pageant is a pageant system that gives the whole “pageant experience” to girls with special needs. It was such a blessing spending the day with these “Amazing Girls”. These girls were such an inspiration to me.

I have also had tons of fun this year visiting the CA and Utah State Pageants, doing parades, ringing in the New Year with my sister Queens and who could forget Nationals…The Hollywood Tour, Disneyland and seeing all the friends I have made throughout my years competing in NAM was a Blast. Making the Top 10 at Nationals was such an honor!

There are so many people to thank. Lani and Breanne Maples, thank you for the NAM experience! The parents of my sister Queens I love you all! The Sieberlich’s, thanks for the winning gown. Nicole, you are such a beautiful person in and out. I couldn’t think of a better role model and big sister that I’d rather have. Lexe- You are so beautiful and fun to be around…keep singing! Chandi- You are such a great friend and big sister. It was my pleasure to reign with you this year. Amber- my little star “sister” you are amazing and so much fun to reign with,  I love ‘ya! Athena- you are so adorable…don’t lose your spunk!

To Mom and Dad- Thank you for all you do for me, I am so lucky to have you both! Gia- Thank you for being who you are, you always are there for me. I love you!
To all of the contestants this year, Good luck! Only one of you will take home the crown, but all of you can make friends and memories to last a lifetime! Aim for the moon even if you miss you’ll be among stars.

For the last time I am your 2011-2012 AZ Pre-Teen, Raina Donati

Nicole Burdick, 2011 Miss Arizona bids farewell

My journey with National American Miss began when I was 13, but little did I know that this organization would have such a huge impact on my life. After I was crowned Miss Arizona, I was given the opportunity to work with numerous organizations and appear at many events. From charity walks, to appearances in my community, to riding in numerous parades, I’ve done it all this year. Some of the most amazing highlights were packing boxes of food with Feed My Starving Children, showing my Sun Devil Pride by riding in the ASU Homecoming Parade, appearing at the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Art A’fare, coaching the contestants at the First Annual Miss Arizona Amazing Pageant, and working with the teen girls at the Living Word Bible Church Women’s Conference. Nationals was the icing on the cake, where I met my sister queens from around the country and made some unforgettable memories. I loved spending a day in Disneyland and touring the streets of Hollywood with the other contestants! This year would not have been possible without so many people. Mom, you are my pageant coach, fashion coordinator, guidance counselor, and best friend. I could not have gotten through my pageant career without you. Daddy, thanks for being my number one cheerleader and for not complaining when I spent your money on pageant gowns and numerous pairs of shoes. To the rest of my family and friends, thanks for all of your love and support this past year. To my sister queens… Athena, our little princess; Amber, my adopted little sister who will be in my wedding one day; Raina, the superstar who will remember me when she’s rich and famous; Chandi, the only person that I will ever listen to Justin Bieber music with; and Lexi, my number one diva; I am so proud of everything we’ve done this year and I love you all from the bottom of my heart. To the families of my sister queens, thanks for being my second family and making us feel like queens every day! And to the Maples and the NAM staff, thank you for putting on a pageant system that has a positive impact on the lives of so many young girls. Keep doing what you do! As I wave goodbye and crown the next lucky girl, I have some advice for the contestants, my successor, and any girl who has ever dreamed of being a princess: Live to leave a legacy, and remember, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Nothing is impossible, the word itself says, “I’m Possible!” Thank you and God Bless you all!
