Iowa Cover Girl Plans Child Abuse Prevention Event

For the third year in a row, the 2016 Miss Iowa Jr. Pre-Teen Cover Girl, Zyrianna Cerna-Koehrsen, helped plan and host an event to raise awareness for child abuse. Zyrianna and her mom started holding the event in 2014 to make more people aware of the effects abuse has on children after Zyrianna's cousins were placed up for adoption. The Not In Hardin County Child Abuse Event was hosted by the Hardin County Child Abuse Prevention Coalition, which Zyrianna is an active member of. During the event, Zyri set up a table for kids to make bracelets and necklaces.
One of the ongoing activities of the Hardin County Child Abuse Prevention Coalition is to find one of the "Blue Kids" and take a silly selfie with it. Zyri had the opportunity to help move the blue kids from one location to the next in her county.
Zyrianna was also able to attend the 1st annual signing of the Hardin County Child Abuse Prevention Proclamation signing in Hardin County, declaring April Child Abuse Prevention Month in their county.

Missouri Pre-Teen Donates Blanket to Children's Center

As visiting royalty at the Tennessee/Kentucky pageant over Labor Day weekend, 2016 Miss Missouri Pre-Teen, Abbie Mueller, decided to make community service truly a “NAMily” affair! In conjunction with her charity, Abbie’s Helping Hands,  Abbie worked with visiting NAM royalty and pageant contestants to make a special commemorative blanket for donation to a local children’s crisis center in the Nashville area.
Over the course of the weekend, Abbie invited girls of all ages to tie one of the fleece fringes of a blanket specially picked to reflect the patriotic theme colors of the weekend’s rehearsals. The finished blanket was then donated at the end of the weekend to a local foster and children’s crisis center.
Abbie thanks Matt Leverton and his awesome team for a wonderful weekend of NAMily, fun, and community service.  The photos are of the blanket in process and in its completed state being donated to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Center in Franklin, TN! You can see Abbie’s social media posts regarding her activities this year at https://www.facebook.com/National-American-Miss-Missouri-Preteen-2016-Abbie-Mueller-1043620605731154/ and on Instagram at NAM_MO_PRETEEN_2016.
