Iowa Cover Girl Plans Child Abuse Prevention Event
For the third year in a row, the 2016 Miss Iowa Jr. Pre-Teen Cover Girl, Zyrianna Cerna-Koehrsen, helped plan and host an event to raise awareness for child abuse. Zyrianna and her mom started holding the event in 2014 to make more people aware of the effects abuse has on children after Zyrianna's cousins were placed up for adoption. The Not In Hardin County Child Abuse Event was hosted by the Hardin County Child Abuse Prevention Coalition, which Zyrianna is an active member of. During the event, Zyri set up a table for kids to make bracelets and necklaces.
One of the ongoing activities of the Hardin County Child Abuse Prevention Coalition is to find one of the "Blue Kids" and take a silly selfie with it. Zyri had the opportunity to help move the blue kids from one location to the next in her county.
Zyrianna was also able to attend the 1st annual signing of the Hardin County Child Abuse Prevention Proclamation signing in Hardin County, declaring April Child Abuse Prevention Month in their county.
