Zoephia Decker-Knealing Leads the Charge with the Pajama Program
NAM girls are definitely the best! We are so proud of Zoephia Decker-Knealing, Arizona Princess 2nd Runner Up, for her work with the Pajama Program. Zoephia even received a call and a letter from the head of the Pajama Program, Genevieve Pitturo, to thank her for all her good work these past 2 years. The letter was so sweet stating "We need you on our staff in NYC" and referring to her as a special individual and an angel for the children who need help.
Last year, Zoephia collected over 200 new books and 200 new pajamas for AZ kids in need. Because of her success and it’s inspiration, Zoephia started her own foundation (Zoephia Foundation—her name means bringer of light and wisdom), which promotes literacy. She is continuing to support Pajama Program but has expanded her efforts in both donation size and the number of events, as well as doing peer reading in her school’s kindergarten. Zoephia just finished the fall drive for pajamas and books at school, with October marking the start of the “Danger Season” for kids in need who could use a warm pair of pajamas. She's hoping donations will top last year with 300 new pajamas and 300 new books going to kids in need. She is also planning a used magazine drive in February for local shelters and a fun run in April to collect more pajamas and books for Pajama Program.
