Nevada and Utah Queens Help at Miss Hartvigsen Spirit Pageant
The Nevada and Utah queens got together at the annual Miss Hartvigsen Spirit Pageant. It was held on January 22 at the Hartvigsen School. Hartvigsen School is taking the “dis” out of
disabilities. They have been a charter school for Utah’s youth with special
abilities since 1970. Their mission statement is “We Believe:”
- Caring and sharing contribute to a positive environment
- We all have the right to work/learn in a safe environment
- Each individual has worth and potential and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity
- Each student is unique and has the right to learn from success and failure
- Every student shares responsibilities in the learning process
- Open communication leads to understand
- A team is built on the cooperative efforts of individuals
The NAM queens that participated in the Miss
Hartvigsen Spirit Pageant were Kailyn Domingo, Miss Nevada Junior Teen, Alyssa
Ray, Miss Utah Princess, and Miah Green, Miss Utah Jr. Pre-teen. They were the
judges for this pageant along with Mrs. Utah 2014-15, Lauren Kirton from the
Mrs. USA organization. There were several other queens from the Miss America
system that helped with escorting the contestants. The contestants had four areas of competition;
“About Me” video, Fitness, Talent and Formal Wear. They also awarded a Miss
Congeniality award and a Miss Diva award. After Kailyn, Alyssa and Miah judged
then they presented all the contestants with a trophy, tiara and a special gift
from NAM Nevada/Utah state queens. Then they crowned the winner, Jennifer, and
she was awarded a tiara, banner, trophy and a gift from the NAM queens. Miah
and her mom donated all the trophies for this event, as well. Miah and Alyssa
have already volunteered to help with other events they have scheduled and the
next Annual Miss Hartvigsen Spirit Pageant in January 2016. Miah’s competitive
All-Star cheer team has a special athletes team and Hartvigsen has asked if
they would perform at next year’s pageant as well. It was a great time and so
heart warming. There was so much joy and pride in the all the contestants it
was absolutely amazing.
