Farewell to Miss Iowa Jr. Pre-Teen Cover Girl Zyrianna Cerna-Koehrsen

“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”

These famous words once spoken by our 40th president Ronald Reagan are words I live by.

During my reign as the 2016 Iowa Junior PreTeen Cover Girl I volunteered more than 300 hours in my community by serving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, donating more than 2,500 books, creating hats for the homeless out of old sweaters, and most importantly raising awareness for child abuse prevention by hosting my 4th annual event and art contest, planting pinwheels and getting my entire community involved in BLUE day.

I was visiting royalty at 6 pageants, appeared in 5 parades, and even got to throw the first pitch for the Waterloo Bucks! Attending the National Pageant in California was a blast and the themed rehearsals were awesome! I even earned the National Junior PreTeen Cover Model Title!

I owe a HUGE thank you to all of my amazing state and National Sponsors. Without them, none of this would have been possible.

To my sister queens, being rained on during the Iowa State Fair parade a blast. Maddy & Mya, We had such a fun year. I love you girls! Chuck, my insta-bestie, you have made this year unforgettable. I love you and I know our friendship will last a lifetime.

Robin & Emerie, Because of you two, I felt so confident and prepared. I love you both! Joe, you really do know how to make a girl shine. I will always love my dress "Big Blue." To my amazing support team, thank you for cheering me on and always believing in me.

Rylan and Ariza, You two are the best brother and sister in the world. I love you both so much! Mommy and Daddy, you truly are my biggest fans. Thank you for all of your love and support and for always pushing me to be better than who I was yesterday!

Breanne and Ryan, AKA the best state directors EVER! Thank you for all you do. PS. The Backstreet Boys are WAY cooler than Nsync. Just Sayin’

To my successor, get ready for the year of a lifetime and remember, by helping just one person, you can help change the world.

With love, I am your fiery redheaded 2016 Iowa Junior PreTeen Cover Girl, Zyrianna Cerna-Koehrsen

Farewell to Miss Missouri Teen Jessica Hanner

It’s so crazy to think that a year has flown by since I was crowned Miss Missouri Teen 2016!

My journey with NAM began in 2014 when I received a letter in the mail saying that I had been invited to attend an open call. Little did I know just how much NAM would grow and shape me into the young lady I am today. That June, I placed in the top five of the Jr. Teen division and couldn’t contain my excitement! My next goal was simple: Become the next Miss Missouri Teen. The next year, I competed in the Teen division and made the top twenty. As a person who constantly wants to improve, I was a little disappointed that I hadn’t achieved what I had ultimately set out to accomplish. So after participating in a different pageant in 2016, I registered again for NAM just a few days before it started. My goal this time: Have fun with my NAMily, meet new friends, and enjoy the experience to the fullest extent. I began memorizing my personal introduction four days out from the actual competition! Thankfully, my wardrobe was already in place from a previous pageant which was a huge blessing! I went into the weekend not expecting my name to be called as the next 2016 Miss Missouri Teen. This time I wasn’t nervous about the end result, but instead I was filled with excitement and an extra grateful heart for NAM and all that it meant to me. I looked forward to fun, friends and the opportunity to keep growing my confidence alongside the most fantastic girls across the state of Missouri! What an amazing surprise and blessing it was to be announced as the new Miss Missouri Teen 2016, and what an incredible honor and privilege it has been to represent this great state.

This year, I volunteered with many organizations including Harvesters Outreach at my church, the Vicki Welsh Fund, Shop with a Cop, Natalie M Foundation, and KC Pet Project. I also had the honor of sharing my personal platform, “The No Gossip Zone”, with over one hundred youth and adults including AWANA Club and Girl Scouts. As one who experienced heartache from years of being the target of gossip bullying, I created a platform to help inform youth about how gossip is often the root cause of bullying. I was able to share my personal story, equip them with specific ways to block the gossip, and provide encouragement and hope that we can overcome its effects. I also enjoyed having my sister queens join me in passing out Valentine’s Day cards to the residents at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. This was my second time visiting with the residents there, and it’s one of my absolute favorite volunteer opportunities! My heart was so full of joy as I realized how much this meant to each resident and saw how many smiles it created by just spending time with them. My grandma had once been a resident there, so it meant even more to be able to give back.

Nationals was one of the most exciting moments of the year. I had the opportunity to meet so many phenomenal young ladies from across the country, and cultivated amazing friendships with my fellow 2016 Teens! It was also a great time to be reunited with my Missouri sister queens! I was so excited for each and every one of their accomplishments that week. They all make me the proudest big sis ever! I came away with the blessings of new friendships, personal growth, and memories that will last a lifetime. Oh… and I came away with that awesome Spirit Stick!

So many special people helped to make this year incredible. To my family, a huge “Thank you!” for your constant support, love, patience, and encouragement throughout this journey. This year wouldn’t have been the same without you! I love you so much!!! Jodi Rinehart, thank you for all your help and support this year. Words can’t express how much you mean to me and how grateful I am for everything you’ve done to bless my life! To all of my friends and extended family, I can’t thank you enough for all your love and encouragement throughout the year. You all mean the world to me and I am blessed each day because of you! Most importantly, to Jesus… thank you! I owe this entire year to You and none of this would be possible without You. This year has challenged and grown me in multiple ways for Your glory, and I am so glad that You’ve been by my side the whole time. Thank You for everything, Jesus!

To all the beautiful and amazing Miss Missouri contestants heading to NAM, I am beyond excited to meet each and every one of you! This weekend is going to be one that you will cherish for a lifetime. Remember to take time to enjoy every moment, make new friends and have FUN! No matter the outcome, you can be extremely proud of yourselves! You are doing something that not everyone does, and that is special. All of you are so brave and beautiful and I can’t wait to see you shine on stage as you achieve your goals and dreams! If you ever have any questions, please reach out to me! I am rooting for every single one of you and wish you all the very best! I know you will all be absolutely amazing!

I’m sad that this year has gone by so fast, but I am excited to see where God will lead me next. See you all soon!

Much love and God bless!

Farewell to Josie Rawlings Your Miss Missouri Junior Teen

This past year was nothing short of amazing!  I had never tried a pageant until two years ago when I received a letter from National American Miss and since then it has changed my life forever.

I had wonderful year volunteering with so many different organizations like Ronald McDonald House, Synergy Safe Haven, UpLift, and Synergy Teen Center.  I did book drives, jean drives, and sock drives.  I served meals at multiple homeless shelters and was blessed to participate in a parade and gala.

Farewell to Miss Missouri Pre-Teen Abbie Mueller

On June 27, 2016, I realized one of my greatest dreams when I was named your National American Miss Missouri Preteen.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with so many organizations, including the Honor Flight, Ronald McDonald and Fisher Houses, My Little Sister’s Keeper leadership program, and my own charity Abbie’s Helping Hands, just to name a few.  It has been a huge blessing to serve with my sister queens setting a positive example for young people across our beautiful state.

For the past year, I have loved spreading the NAM message of leadership and confidence.  Whether it was riding in a Fourth of July parade, teaching Daisy Scouts about the Missouri honeybee, or donating school supplies to LaSalle Middle School, I made the most of every day with my crown and banner.  The highlight of my year definitely was competing at Nationals, where I made friends for life.  It was a privilege to stand beside so many amazing girls my age from all over the country.  At the end of the week, I was honored to be your National Best Resume winner, Runner-Up in the Spokesmodel competition, and your National Overall First Runner Up!

None of this would have been possible without my directors Ms. Breanne and Mr. Ryan, who have believed in me ever since I first started NAM as a nervous but excited 10 year old.  Thank you so much for all of your encouragement.  To my friends and family, thank you for supporting me in everything I do.  To my sister queens, you are the best, and it will always be #MOtime!  And finally, to my mom, dad, and brother Grant, I couldn’t be where I am today without your unconditional love and encouragement.  Thank you for encouraging excellence but being the proudest as long as I gave it my all, no matter the result.

It’s no secret that I am determined to make it on Broadway someday.  That’s why even though I am sad to end this year I’m not saying goodbye, but just “see you later,” because in the future you will definitely see my name in lights.  I hope that when you do, you will remember this year and how proud I was to be your representative.  Taking my curtain call for now, I am forever your 2016 National American Miss Missouri Preteen, Abbie Mueller.

Miss Missouri Jr. Pre-Teen Laci Brown Says Farewell

It was almost one year ago that I entered a pageant for the first time. It was so much fun and I was so excited to be voted as Miss Personality by the other state finalists. But nothing prepared me for when my name was called as the 2016 Miss Missouri Jr. Pre-Teen - it was a moment that I will never forget!

After being crown, I donated all of the books and school supplies from the pageant to the Boys and Girls Club of America and to the backpack program at my school. I also packed sack lunches for Harvesters Food Network. I had a blast meeting other Missouri Queens when we baked goodies for families at the Ronald McDonald House.

Nationals was the best experience ever!! It was nonstop fun and making great family memories. I loved meeting the Jr. Pre-teen Queens and so many other really sweet girls! I made friends for life. Going to Disneyland, the rehearsals and parties, and dancing on stage in the final show were some just some of the highlights of my amazing week in California.

I will always be grateful for this opportunity and unforgettable experience.
Thank you Mommy and Daddy – I am blessed to have loving and encouraging parents. I love you both so much.

Thank you Ms Breanne and Mr. Ryan for being the best directors ever and making every experience fun! Thank you to the NAM staff and all of the people I’ve met this past year. You have been so kind and supportive and I won’t ever forget you.
To my Sister Queens Jessica, Josie, Abbie, Erin, Deja and Adyson – I have had so much fun sharing this year with each of you and I will miss you very much!

Thank you to my sponsors, coaches, family, and friends. Your support means everything to me.

To all of the Missouri state finalists and to my successor - remember to always do your best, have fun, and leave a little sparkle wherever you go!

This isn't good-bye, but farewell for now. It has been an honor to be YOUR National American Miss 2016 Miss Missouri Jr. Pre-teen, Laci Ella Brown.
