Tyara Simpson, IL Teen Cover Girl, has had an amazing year
This year has been incredibly rewarding, and it is hard for me to see it come to a close. It was only a year ago when I was crowned the 2009-2010 IL Teen Cover Girl, and every second of it since then has been a blessing to me. I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to travel throughout my year of reign and be of service to people in so many ways. One of the most memorable service activities I participated in with my Sister Queens was the 2009 American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Walk. This activity gave me a chance to walk for those who have endured the pressures of breast cancer in hope that a cure will be sought out as they continue to persevere. Throughout my year, I was also able to serve primarily at my church, Living Word Christian Center, in several capacities such as assisting as a Leader in their “Go Hard for Christ” Youth Ministry, donating toys and books to their “Kids for Christ” Children’s Ministry, and putting together school supplies and backpacks for members in need in their Member Care department. I am truly blessed to have been a blessing in so many ways.
I must declare that the highlight of my year was the National American Miss National Pageant in Orange County, California. This was my chance to have a completely new and exciting experience in a place, which I had never been. While I was in California, I won several rewards including the 2009-2010 National Teen Cover Model Title, 3rd Runner Up for National Community Service, and the National Spirit of America Reward. I had always dreamt of going to Disneyland and touring Hollywood, and thanks to NAM, I had a chance to fulfill it with my loving friends and family. Seeing the famous Disney Castle is a memory that I will never forget along with going to the famous Chinese Theater Show and Universal Studios in California. It was truly a beautiful experience as well as life changing.
I am so thankful that National American Miss exists as an organization that sets out to help girls fulfill their most ambitious and beautiful dream, which is what it has done for me. Nevertheless, I could not have even pursued my dream if it were not for my mom, the rest of my family, friends, Illinois Sister Queens, the National American Miss Family, and My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God has done a miraculous work in me as a National American Miss Queen, and put an ambitious dream inside of me that I may let my light shine on others to help them realize their life’s purpose and pursue it. Thank you National American Miss Organization for all of the wonderful opportunities you have granted me. I Love NAM!
Wishing You Infinite Blessings,
Tyara Simpson
