The 2012 Nevada Junior Pre-teen Relfects on the past year
I can’t believe that it has
been one year since I was crowned the 2012 Miss Nevada Jr. Pre-Teen! My year
was filled with excitement, opportunities, and so many wonderful
people. What made my winning even more special was that my sister,
Chloe, had just been crowned moments before in the princess division and was
able to be on stage with me to share my excitement.

After earning my title, I
got right to work by donating all of the books and stuffed animals collected at
my pageant to the Shade Tree Shelter to comfort displaced families. I
also spent several hours volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House decorating
lunch bags, making lunches, serving dinner, and working at their Annual Food
Drive. I was so excited to meet Las Vegas’ Mayor Goodman with my Sister
Queens. One of my favorite events was the Candlelighters Halloween
Bash. We worked a couple of the carnival booths and the kids that
participated were so cute.

I also participated in the “Run, Walk and Roll
Against Bullying” where I met a lot of Nevada title holders of all ages.
It was awesome to see everyone in their crowns and to know that I was making a
difference with them. Since the Miss America Pageant is held in Las Vegas
I was fortunate enough to work with the Children’s Miracle Network greeting the
contestants and their families at the trade show.

The highlight of my year
was traveling to California for Nationals. I had such a great time with
my family. Going on the Hollywood tour and to Disney was a blast.
Dress-up days were my favorite and made the rehearsals so much fun. I
made a lot of new friends but loved hanging out with, Callie, Miss Utah.

I would like to thank
National American Miss, and especially our state directors for this wonderful
opportunity and for all your help and support throughout the year. To my
sister queens, thanks for everything, I wish you all the best!
To my Mom, thank you for
always standing by my side no matter what. Dad, thanks for believing in
me and being the cutest escort around. Chloe and Taylor, you are the BEST
sisters a girl could wish for. To my Grandmas, Aunts, Uncles and cousins,
I love you all! Without your endless love and support, this year wouldn’t have
been possible.
To my successor be
yourself, smile a lot, and have fun! This will be an amazing adventure
for you and your family.
With a kiss and a wave,
Your 2012 National American Miss Nevada Jr. Pre Teen,
Carley Garza
