Miss Arizona PreTeen, Vanessa Strait's Farewell

"Strive for the best" has always been my motto, and as your 2013 National American Miss Arizona Preteen, I have never stopped striving for the best. One year ago, I was blessed by God to be crowned the new Miss Arizona Preteen. That was just the starting line for the amazing journey I have had through National America Miss. I kicked off my year by donating my school supplies to the Phoenix Rescue Mission. Weeks later, I saw the faces of children light up when handed these supplies as i volunteered at the Phoenix Rescue Mission School Supply Drive. My reign has taken me all over the state, as I have taken part in parades and events in Glendale, Phoenix, Litchfield Park, Scottsdale, Tuscon, Wickenburg, Tombstone, and many other wonderful cities. I have been blessed to work with many organizations and groups, like Miss Amazing, Feed My Starving Children, The Phoenix Rescue Mission, and many others. 

       

In November, I traveled to sunny Anaheim, California for NAM Nationals. That experience is one that still brings a ginormous smile to my face and floods my mind with warm, happy memories. I met many, many wonderful girls from all over the country who I know will make a impact on our world someday. I got to witness the true magic of National American Miss whenever a smile appeared on anyone's face. These friendships and memories will forever be in my heart and something I will forever be grateful for.

      

I have had the opportunity to meet hundreds of magnificent people and bring a smile to their face as they bring one to mine. Thank you a million times to those who have been on this journey with me and given me endless love and support. To my mom, I love you so, so very much and I cannot thank you enough for this experience. I would never be where I am today without you. To my dad, I love you so much. Thank you for being the most amazing escort and never failing to give me love, encouragement, and making me laugh! To all my family, thank you for standing by me with love and support and always reminding to smile and keep my chin up, I love you all with all my heart. To my sister queens, I have had the most amazing year with all of you! From our silly selfies and endless hotel cookies, to our never-ending laughter, we have had the grandest time together. I love you all and you will always have a place in my heart as sisters. To the whole National American Miss team and crew, thank you for this magnificent opportunity. Thank you for the friendships and love, and thank you for allowing me to become the best me I can be.  To all preteen contestants, be prepared for a weekend of fun! Always keep your head up high and your smile on. You are all fabulous, no matter who gets the crown. Finally, to my successor, have the most wonderful year, because it sure goes by fast! Never hesitate to be kind and humble, and always reach out to others with compassion. Serve our beautiful state well, and buckle your seat belt for a wild ride full of amazing moments!

Although we part now, we will soon be reunited.
