Miss Illinois Pre Teen, Taylor Castro's Farewell

WOW!!!  I can not believe that it was one year ago that I was crowned Miss Illinois Pre-Teen 2013.  This year has been a whirlwind of meeting new people, volunteering, making appearances, and representing NAM, along with the great state of Illinois.

During my reign, I helped pack meals at Feed My Starving Children as well as volunteering at an Alzheimer’s walk, Shriners Hospital fundraiser, Breast Cancer walk, Indian Dance School Recital and a Mother’s Day 5K Run.  My sister queens and I had our picture taken with the Stanley Cup.  We had a kick off dinner before leaving for Nationals and had a great time meeting up again at Open Calls and Pageant Preps.

Nationals was the best week ever!  I had so much fun meeting girls from across the country.  I made friendships that will last a lifetime.  Placing 2nd runner up to the queens title was just the icing on the cake!

To my brother Tyler:  Thank you for being a good sport and cheering me on.  I can’t wait for you to be my escort someday.

To my Mom & Dad:  Thank you for being there for me every step of the way.  I love you!

To Mr. & Mrs. Maples, Breanne and the NAM staff:  Thank you for everything.  It has truly been an honor to represent this wonderful organization.

To my NAMily, especially Hailey, Erika and Tori: I love you! It is great knowing that I have friends to support me across the country.  Even though we are miles apart, our friendships are unbreakable.

To my sister Queens:  I have enjoyed getting to know you throughout this year.  I will miss you!

To all of the contestants:  I hope this weekend you made new friends and tried something new.  Most of all, I hope you had fun.

To my successor:  Congratulations!  You are about to embark on an amazing journey.  Enjoy every 5 hundred, 25 thousand, 9 hundred, and 48 minutes you get with your crown.

No matter what the outcome, remember- Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face.  It is about having a pretty mind, pretty soul, and most of all a beautiful heart.
