Miss MO Pre-Teen Abbie Mueller Honors Veterans at Welcome Home Event
Miss Missouri Pre-Teen, Abbie
Mueller, was honored to be invited to
participate in the Welcome Arrival Ceremony for the St. Louis Honor Flight at
Lambert St. Louis Airport, welcoming home
veterans from the Korean, WWII, and Vietnam wars. After leaving early in
the morning, the veterans spend the day in Washington D.C. visiting the
memorials of their respective service locations, and come home in the evening
to hundreds of family members and volunteers welcoming and thanking them for
their service. Abbie met with the families of the servicemembers, the
volunteers of the Honor Flight organization, and most importantly, personally
greeted and thanked each veteran for their service. She helped present each veteran with a
Challenge Chip (reminiscent of the challenge coins that are presented by
national military officials to soldiers in active service), a certificate, a
flag, and a Quilt of Valor.
As the daughter of a retired U.S. Army
officer who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was injured in service, Abbie
has a special appreciation for these brave Americans and enjoys hearing their
stories of sacrifice and dedication from when they served. You can follow along with Abbie’s
year as Miss Missouri Pre-Teen on Instagram at NAM_MO_PRETEEN_2016.
