Miss Nebraska Teen 2009, Chrissy Townsend says farewell, reminding us to let the inner beauty queen shine through
Dear Families, Friends and Contestants,
My year of reign has been amazing. I am truly honored to have represented the state of Nebraska as your National American Miss Nebraska Teen 2009.
Throughout my reign I have volunteered with many organizations, such as: The Habitat for Humanity, Brush up Nebraska, Treat Street, Omaha Children’s Museum, and The 2009 Miss Amazing Pageant. These organizations have shown me a new found love for volunteerism as I was constantly representing Nebraska as a role model. My favorite place to volunteer was the LaVista Volunteer Fire Department, where I donated my books and bears for them to use when young children are involved in dangerous situations. I also helped them promote fire prevention during Fire Prevention Week.
National’s week was thrilling. I made many new friends to last me a lifetime and had a blast going to Disneyland and touring Hollywood. Although preparing for nationals was stressful it was all worth it in the end. I had the privilege to witness my very own sister queen Sarah Summers win the National American Miss Jr. Teen title and be the first person ever from Nebraska to win! She is a tremendous young lady and she has been an amazing representative thus far.
Thank you to National American Miss and everyone else who have given me the confidence to go out and make something of myself. This program not only gives young women courage to speak out on topics they are passionate about, but also to go for their dreams.
To all of the young women competing in the Teen division, this year has been unforgettable and has taught me so much. My advice to you is to be yourself, let your inner “beauty queen” shine through. You are all queens at heart; you just need to believe it. Have fun and let your personality guide you.
